Stevia And Cinnamon To Reduce Type 2 Diabetes

Stevia helps regulate the level of glucose in our blood, while cinnamon increases our sensitivity to insulin. We can drink three infusions a day, but always under medical supervision.

Type 2 diabetes is a disease affecting blood sugar regulation. That is, the way the body uses and regulates the level of glucose in our body.

What is type 2 diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes. It is formed slowly and gradually in individuals. In this case of diabetes, the pancreas produces a normal level of insulin.

However, as a person gains weight, their cells that collect and use glucose for energy will gradually become insensitive to insulin. This will eventually cause diabetes mellitus.

Type 2 diabetes can be treated with diabetes medication or insulin. Or even in some cases both.

The problem with this disease is that it is progressive and insidious. Thus, the patient may not have any symptoms for a long time.

However, this disease must be detected and treated as quickly as possible. Indeed, over time diabetes can seriously affect the circulation of blood vessels. Thus, serious complications in the eyes (diabetic retinopathy), kidneys (diabetic nephropathy), nerves (diabetic neuropathy) appear. Or even cause cardiovascular disease, stroke or even affect a member of the body to the point of having to amputate it.

Treatments

First of all, a specialist doctor will assess the patient’s case in order to give him the appropriate treatment for his type of diabetes.

Usually, treatment begins with a strict diet accompanied by sports activities. This will help to lower the weight and, consequently, the glucose level of the patient.

In this article, we will therefore present two foods that also naturally reduce diabetes: stevia and cinnamon.

Stevia

L has Stevia rebaudiana  has become popular in recent years in the United States and Europe. However, this plant has already been used for centuries in its country of origin: Paraguay.

This plant is known for its sweetening and non-caloric properties. It also has properties that allow better regulation of glucose in the body.

Stevia can therefore be consumed daily, in the form of an infusion to be taken three times a day. Or even directly in extract or in tablets.

However, remember that it is essential that stevia is consumed as a pure extract (usually dark in color) and not as a refined, non-proprietary sweetener.

Cinnamon

Some studies have shown that cinnamon (Cinnamomum Cassia) participates in the lasting lowering of glucose and cholesterol levels. But also lipids in patients with type 2 diabetes.

According to these same studies, cinnamon would also have antioxidant properties and also increase insulin sensitivity. The latter is the hormone used to control blood sugar.

Cinnamon can be consumed in tablets or integrated into the diet: in the form of an infusion, or as a condiment to be incorporated into foods and drinks.

The recommended daily dose for reducing diabetes is between one and six grams (i.e. about a teaspoon of cinnamon powder per day)

Some tips for a cure

If you want to take a course of stevia and cinnamon, we recommend that you first consult your doctor or naturopath.

Once you have received the green light from a specialist, you can take a course of between one and three months during which you will drink three infusions daily: one in the morning, one after lunch and one in the evening.

The infusion that you will have to prepare contains 2 heaped teaspoons of stevia (in leaves or powder) and a teaspoon of cinnamon (in bark or in powder) of which you will have previously made sure of the good quality and that you will make boil 5 minutes.

If the brew is too sweet for you, add a little lemon juice.

Additional tips

During the treatment, we advise you to be followed by your doctor, so that the latter can control your blood sugar level, the effects of infusions and if necessary readjust your traditional treatment.

In addition, you can add other foods to your diet that may be beneficial for your diabetes condition:

  • Brewer’s yeast : rich in chromium, a mineral that regulates sugar levels
  • Watercress  : also containing chromium
  • Fresh peas : acting like vegetable insulin
  • Whole grains  : especially rice and oats, regulating blood sugar levels
  • Coconut water  :  with hypoglycemic properties
  • Reishi, Maitake and Shiitake mushrooms : regulating the level of glucose in the blood and also having many other beneficial properties for the body.

Finally, you must strictly follow the treatment that has been prescribed to you, play sports, do not go in the sun during the peak hours and if possible naturally treat any emotional problems you may have.

Indeed, it is these elements that most influence the well-being and, consequently, the evolution of type 2 diabetes.
